A gallery representing 64 artists and an auction house holding six sales a year.
Safranhan Art and Auction opened in 2006 as a small gallery founded by curator Sibel Akdoğan on the ground floor of a 19th-century han in Karaköy. In the early years it represented just three artists; today it is a gallery working with 64 artists, an auction house holding six sales a year and a team advising collectors.
We believe art belongs to everyone, but it should be bought with the right information. That is why for every work we sell we prepare a provenance record showing it came from the artist or a documented collection, a conservation report describing its condition and a certificate of authenticity. Pricing, commission and tax information is shared in writing before a sale.
Our gallery programme comprises six solo and two group exhibitions a year, bringing emerging artists and established masters under one roof. Our auctions are held six times a year, in our salon in Nişantaşı and online. Before each auction the works are open for preview in our gallery for a week.
Our team of 22, made up of art historians, conservators, legal advisers and logistics specialists, manages the whole process from selecting works to insured delivery. First-work advisory for those who want to build a collection is free of charge.
Every work comes from the artist, their estate or a documented collection and is delivered with a certificate of authenticity and invoice.
Buyer's premium, VAT, shipping and insurance can be seen in advance in the total cost calculator.
